Community Day at Timberline

  • Timberline Farms, LLC 1413 Mays Landing Road Hammonton, NJ, 08037 United States (map)

Please join us on Saturday, May 30th, for a special community day at Timberline Farms! From 10am until 1pm, we will celebrate traditional Palestinian culture and its relationship to fashion, handmade fiber, and land.

Joining us are two dynamic Palestinian women brought together through their shared connection to identity, empowerment, and the land.

All the way from Palestine, Bisan Alhajhasan will share the art and cultural significance of Palestinian tatreez and thob design.

And New Jersey’s own Lana Mustafa, Executive Director of Montclair Community Farms and founder of Roots of Resilience, will speak about the power of community, food sovereignty, and preserving cultural connection both here and in Palestine.

In addition, our South Jersey farmer and community member Cait Nolan will be here from Little By Little Farms in Williamstown, NJ. Using cotton she grew last year, Cait will demonstrate hand processing and drop spindle spinning. Additionally, she is bringing along a small demonstration indigo vat made with 100% locally grown and sourced ingredients. We will also be washing our autumn and spring mohair from our goats at Timberline, Fanny and Petra. We invite the community to come get dirty and see how much work goes into fiber production.

Live music will be performed by Shannen Moser and The Goodbye Party!

And lastly, donut specials will celebrate the flavors of Palestine. We will have orange rosewater donuts topped with dried rose petals grown by Lana, as well as mint lemonade donuts celebrating the popular Levant drink, Limonata. $2 from every box of donuts will be donated to Roots of Resilience.

We can’t wait to connect with you all!
